With regards to the 2nd Grant for businesses severely impacted by the 2nd COVID-19 Lockdown in Nov-Dec 2020.

If Purley BID members haven’t heard from Croydon Council it may mean the council has not got all the business sectoral data in the rates system. Therefore please contact the council as highlighted below:

Local Restrictions Support Grant (closed businesses) all eligible business that has not heard yet from the Council needs to do is complete the registration form here . The business rates team will then contact eligible businesses to confirm that either:

  1. a grant will be paid directly into their bank account
  2. The Council need more information from the business before we can pay the grant into their bank account
  3. The Council need the business to complete an online application before we pay the grant into their bank account

Please note all grant application forms should be accessed through Google Chrome.

This grant is for business premises forced to close (such as non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality businesses) due to national restrictions are to receive grants worth up to £3,000 a month under the Local Restrictions Support Grant (closed businesses).

These will be paid as a one-off grant to cover the 28-day period. The size of the grant will be based on rateable values:

– Properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under would receive a grant of £1,334.

– Properties with a rateable value of between £15,000 and £51,000 would receive a grant of £2,000.

– Properties with a rateable value over £51,000 would receive a grant of £3,000.

If a business has more than one qualifying business property, they will receive a grant for each property.

To qualify for this grant, businesses must meet the following eligibility criteria, as set by government:

– You must be based in Croydon and pay business rates

You must have been required to close by government*

– You must have been trading as usual until the day the lockdown came into force (i.e. trading as normal on Wednesday 4 November 2020)

*Restaurants providing takeaways and businesses using click and collect services are still eligible as their substantive business has had to close.
