The Civic Mayor of Croydon has presented a long service award to Calvin Campbell, a devoted street cleaner who has been a cornerstone of the Purley community for two decades.
The award, a prestigious recognition of Calvin’s twenty years of dedication and exceptional service, is a testament to his significant contributions to the cleanliness of Purley, South Croydon, and along the Purley Way.
Croydon Civic Mayor Tony Pearson said “The level of commitment Calvin Campbell has given to our community sets a gold standard for public service. His dedication over the past twenty years has not only enhanced the cleanliness of our streets but also shown his friendly, approachable demeanour, which is also great to see. We are profoundly grateful for his tireless efforts and meticulous attention to detail.”
Calvin himself was rightfully extremely proud of his achievement, saying, “It’s been a privilege to serve this community. Seeing the results of my work every day is rewarding, and knowing I’m making a real difference is what has kept me motivated over these two decades. I’m honoured to receive this recognition and will continue to serve with the same passion and dedication.”
The Purley BID Engagement Manager, Catherine Garrad, who nominated Calvin for the Award stated; “Calvin’s presence in Purley is more than just about keeping our streets clean; he embodies the community spirit and values we cherish. His friendly manner and professionalism have made him not just a fixture of our daily lives but also a beacon of dedication and community spirit. We are incredibly proud to have Calvin as part of our community.”
The ceremony at Croydon Town Hall marked Calvin’s two decades of unwavering service and celebrates the positive impact of such dedicated individuals in our community.
