Purley in Bloom was honoured to be invited to the prestigious Britain in Bloom competition.
Judging day was on Tuesday 12th August 2025, when two judges spent the day visiting Purley and marking Purley in Bloom. Each In-Bloom entry is scored against a set of criteria under 3 main pillars:
- Horticultural Achievement
- Environmental Responsibility
- Community Participation
Some of the team were fortunate to attend the Awards Ceremony at The Grand in Brighton. A fabulous celebration of the many volunteers that help to make their communities a blooming success. A room full of joy and anticipation of the results, with certificates and congratulations being presented by Arit Anderson from Gardener’s World.
What an amazing achievement for Purley in Bloom, as first time entrants, to be awarded SILVER. We are extremely proud of the team and so pleased that all their hard work has been recognised. The Awards were featured on BBC1’s The One Show and we send our congratulations to Southport on being overall national winners.
Huge thanks for the support and encouragement we have received from the businesses and residents of Purley. Thanks also to the fantastic Parks and Grounds Maintenance Teams at London Borough of Croydon and to TFL for their collaboration with Purley in Bloom projects.
