Police Update Following Fatal Stabbing in Purley

We have received the following update from Police in response to the fatal stabbing in Purley:

Shortly after 9pm on 11th July there was a call to a disturbance near Purley Railway Station. Upon Police arrival it was established that four males had been stabbed one of which died at the scene. At this time there are extensive crime scenes in place along the Brighton Road, Purley, which are using a significant number of officers. These scenes include road closures and diversions including buses. The front entrance to Purley Railway Station is likely to be closed for some time.

The incident has been declared critical and is being managed as such. As per the media coverage I can confirm arrests have been made and again please be aware that this investigation is in its Early stages and is being led by our colleagues in the Homicide command.

Purley BID can confirm that hi-vis patrols will be in the area, particularly at school egress times, for reassurance. Please continue to support our community.
